What is the Difference in TUSQ Materials?

TUSQ

TUSQ nuts have a rich tone without the inconsistency found in ivory, bone, and other natural materials. Bone and ivory have hard and soft spots (grain) throughout each piece, hampering the consistent transfer of vibrations to the guitar top. TUSQ nuts are designed to transfer the right frequencies more efficiently from the string to the guitar body.

    The product itself seems good but I wish there was not information regarding bass compatibility. I purchased this for a Yamaha 5 String Bass and the spacing was different. The bass is still playable but I’m not sure it will affect my playing in the long run.

    1445-00 Nut

    The original nut on this Yamaha 5 string bass snapped. I think it was plastic. This was the closest fit I could find. The height was perfect. The thickness was a bit too much and I have to take about 1.5 mm of each side of the witdh, but it was fairly easy to do. The nut slots themselves are perfect. Over all I was pleased. Some pointers on polishing after sizing with sandpaper would have been appreciated. I felt the price of the nut was fair but the shipping cost was crazy high.

    Perfect upgrade

    Perfect upgrade to my stock nut. Had my bass set up to play low tuning and needed a new nut to support drop G#. Worked out great
