What is the Difference in TUSQ Materials?

TUSQ

TUSQ nuts have a rich tone without the inconsistency found in ivory, bone, and other natural materials. Bone and ivory have hard and soft spots (grain) throughout each piece, hampering the consistent transfer of vibrations to the guitar top. TUSQ nuts are designed to transfer the right frequencies more efficiently from the string to the guitar body.

TUSQ XL and Black TUSQ XL nuts are designed to boost guitar tone and performance. These precision-engineered nuts are made with a specially formulated material that couples the strings' vibrations to the neck and brings out the hidden harmonics and richness in every note. It is based on the highly resonant TUSQ man-made ivory but is permanently lubricated to improve the tuning performance of the guitar.

    Keep your cavity tidy!

    I have Ghost saddles on four (soon to be five) guitars to access convincing acoustic guitar tone from electric guitars on the fly, mostly in a musical theater pit band setting, along with live club dates with rock and country cover bands. With stage square footage often limited and having to go from electric to acoustic in the space of a couple of measures, switching instruments is just not practical. With the Ghosts, I flip a miniswitch and ta-da! <jazz hands>

    Using the Dual Connector Cable as part of the install makes things really simple and keeps the tight confines of a Telecaster control cavity tidy.

    Highly recommended!
