I installed these pins on my Martin M-36 guitar, which originally came with plastic pins. While the guitar already had a great open sound, it had a bit too much emphasis on the high frequencies. With these new pins, the sound balanced out much better, particularly in the low end, which is noticeably improved compared to the plastic pins. However, the overall open sound is slightly diminished with these pins. For this reason, I rated them 4 stars. I have switched pins a few times but have finally decided to stick with these.

I ordered these pins for my Martin LX1. The little Martin is fun and I like it but I figured it could use a little help. Replacing the cheap plastic pins with better plastic pins was an improvement in tone. Also the pins fit with no sanding.
