What are the String Saver and TUSQ Materials in Saddles?

String Saver Saddles

String Saver saddles are made with a unique combination of materials made to enhance tone and dramatically reduce string breakage. Each saddle is permanently lubricated.

Lubrication formula in String Savers eases the grip between the saddle and string, spreading the stress over a greater portion of the string, just enough to drastically reduce string breakage.

Our patented String Saver Originals are made entirely of our String Saver material and give you a very balanced tone across the spectrum. People who were breaking one or two strings a night have contacted us after using String Savers and are amazed that they go weeks and months without breaking a string!

String Saver Classics are made with an extremely high quality steel saddle with our patented String Saver material inserted in the string ramp. String Saver Classics preserve the classic look of a metal saddles while freeing you from the problem of breaking strings.

TUSQ Saddles

TUSQ Saddles have a rich tone without the inconsistency found in ivory, bone, and other natural materials. Bone and ivory have hard and soft spots (grain) throughout each piece, hampering the consistent transfer of vibrations to the guitar top. TUSQ saddles are designed to transfer the right frequencies more efficiently from the string to the guitar body.

    Yamaha saddle and nut

I emailed a sales associate and they assured me the nut and saddle would fit a Yamaha ll16. They did not.

Hi Andrew, Sorry to hear the saddle and nut didn't fit your Yamaha LL16. Guitar measurements can be tricky and sometimes there are variations even within the same model series. We do have a lot of guidance on how to final fit your nuts and saddles.... https://graphtechtorial.com/ Guitar parts are not like car parts... they are made from wood, and wood moves, expands, contracts... even at the factor level, they will do some final tweaking for each guitar, such as Yamaha. Nearly perfect fit. Nothing beats Graphtech saddles and nuts!

This required very little sanding of the thickness to obtain a perfect fit in the bridge slot. It did require sanding the bottom to get the best action. My customer was extremely pleased with the action and sound using GraphTech products

    Nut and saddle

Arrived right on schedule. I put a pickup under the saddle and with minor saning work it fit great. And it sounds really good. The black tusq definitely improved my tone! Thanks so much

    Great precut saddle. Good material.

Fits fine after proper setup. I like that the intonation is correct already and didn't have to move it around with filling and sanding.<< {intonation}. I put this in my Yamaha AC3 and it sounds great. Note.. You do need to sand the bridge down for a perfect fit as it comes oversized of course. It's not a drop in and forget it deal. It had enough there to make a nicely fitted bridge saddle. I might do the Nut in the future as well. Has a more "positive" sound than the stock plastic crud Yamaha sent with the guitar. What I mean is.. The mids and lows are more snappy and the harmonics ring more. I replaced the stock one because it just didn't fit well in the bridge pocket. Stock it came so loosely fit that it actually had an angle sitting in the pocket and not at all straight up and just would fall out with strings off. It's not good to make a saddle to tight too so watch that and leave it a tad loose. Mine doesn't fall out but it's not in there hard.
