    New nut on an Gretsch Electromatic 5434

    I think I have replaced and modified everything on this guitar and the last thing was to replace the plastic nut with Graph Tech Tusq XL. It was perfect fit after some filing and rinsing of glue overflow from the manufacturer, and finally the instrument feels balanced and grounded in the tone.

    Works great on my JS22

    The only thing I MAY have to change on this nut on my fixer-upper Jackson JS22 is filing it down a bit. New to guitar-teching and learning on my own instruments. Great nut, slick, seems to work great!

    Nut job made easy

    I was trying to lower the string height in an old Cortez guitar. It had a problem with string height, a mismatched nut and the wrong saddle. After straightening the neck, addressing the frets, I removed the problem nut, cleaned up the pocket and placed the Tusq nut in. It was the perfect size except it was a little too tall. With the new saddle in and restrung, I needed material off the bottom of the nut. It was easy to figure out and easy to sand off with a belt sander and 220 grit belt. I kept it straight, fit it into the neck angle which was easy to do with a sharp chisel, taking off material on the bottom side of the nut. I did it in one go, stuck it with two small drops of CV glue and now proper nut/string height. The material was so easy to use.
