What is the Difference in TUSQ Materials?

TUSQ

TUSQ nuts have a rich tone without the inconsistency found in ivory, bone, and other natural materials. Bone and ivory have hard and soft spots (grain) throughout each piece, hampering the consistent transfer of vibrations to the guitar top. TUSQ nuts are designed to transfer the right frequencies more efficiently from the string to the guitar body.

Best for Acoustic Guitars.

TUSQ XL and Black TUSQ XL

TUSQ XL and Black TUSQ XL nuts are designed to boost guitar tone and performance. These precision-engineered nuts are made with a specially formulated material that couples the strings' vibrations to the neck and brings out the hidden harmonics and richness in every note. It is based on the highly resonant TUSQ man-made ivory but is permanently lubricated to improve the tuning performance of the guitar.

Best for Electric Guitars and BASS.

    TEFLON® vs. METAL String Trees

Dive-Bomb Away on your Stratocaster®!! Attached are photos of BOTH, the black version set of the "TUSQ XL" (2x2), and the white version "TUSQ XL" (3x1) string guides. Since both of my Stratocasters® have Fender® "Locking" tuners installed, be aware that these Fender® tuners come with 3 "LONG" string winding posts (E,A,D), and 3 "SHORT" string winding posts (G,B,E). So, I opted to purchase an additional 2 "SHORT" posted tuners from an auction site, to lessen the angle on both "D" strings on both Strats®. IT WORKED!!

Anyone still using metal string trees made of materials other than TEFLON® string nuts and trees, have not tried them!! You will NEVER go back! ... Note: It is H-I-G-H-L-Y suggested that a professional guitar tech or luthier do the installation. Placement is critical, and putting screws into the headstock requires a certain degree of skill.

    Works great!

It took 2 minutes to swap out the tree on my Schecter Nick Johnston HSS. No issues and rock solid.

    String retainer

Works great. Better than two separate retainers. Works nice and smooth.

Replaced 3 retainer string tree in metal & it is an improvement in bending G String 14th fret on a Stratocaster.

    3 string tree

It's about time. I've been using the Reverend trees

I use Graphtech tusq nuts and saddles on all my stringed instruments. A noticable improvement in tone
