John Singletary
BIO
Hailing from the ghostly city of Savannah, GA, John Singletary is a man with purpose: To bring his music to the masses and share his love of music with the world.
But we should probably start at the beginning. Music has played a major role in John’s life. “Led Zeppelin’s ‘A Whole Lotta Love’ is the first song that made me wanna play guitar”, says the lead guitarist of Honestlie. At age 13, John’s grandfather gave him an old, dusty acoustic guitar that gave him the ability to vent the angst that most kids have in those teenage years. This was perfect, as it was around that time that John dove into Nirvana’s “Nevermind” album as well as Alice In Chains’ “Dirt”. From there, the Grunge scene supplied him with two of his biggest inspirations in Kurt Cobain and Jerry Cantrell. The emotion that each man created with their six-string was like nothing that John had felt before, which was why he decided that he would get serious about music and start his first band…at 14. Shortly thereafter, the Deftones came along and gave him even more wonder to digest. Their soft, melodic verses and driving, dirty choruses gave John a new way to look at music and opened up his mind to the opinion that something is beautiful about all music. So began the study of older greats such as Otis Redding, Jimmy page and the like. Believing that within each musician was a tool that John could use to become an even better musician.
John is a die-hard musical fanatic. As evidenced by the work he has done in his own guitar tech shop. Wanting to know about everything that goes into the music he makes quite literally, he attempts to take in as much knowledge as possibly about every make and model of every guitar he can. Taking pride in his work, John definitely uses only the best products for his work. Most of which, coincidentally, come from Graphtech.
We have now come to the present where John brings his musical knowledge into Honestlie, a hard rock act from- you guessed it- Savannah, GA. You can hear his bluesy, emotional solos all throughout their tracks and see where his influences have definitely made an impact on their sound. Will John Singletary succeed in his mission? We think so.
