Kevin Bernier
BIO
Kevin Bernier was born in Monterrey, CA on December 28, 1978 to a military family, and spent his childhood in several places including Puerto Rico, West Germany, Key West, FL and suburban Maryland. He picked up the Tenor Saxophone in 6th grade, and started playing guitar at 15 years old, mostly self-taught based on his experience in his high school jazz band.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach Campus. After graduating, he moved to Houston, Texas in 2003 to work in NASA's Space Shuttle and International Space Station programs. He then became involved in Houston's local music scene, eventually joining local latin/punk/ska legends Los Skarnales and going on to become a founding member of The Suffers just a few years later.
In 2015, his life took a radical turn when he decided to leave his engineering career at NASA to become a full time musician with The Suffers. They went on to perform in several major US cities and high-profile music festivals across North America, including SXSW in Austin, Voodoo Music Experience in New Orleans, CMJ Music Marathon in New York City, and Pemberton Music Festival in British Columbia. The band's most notable appearance was on the Late Show With David Letterman on March 30, 2015.
He currently resides in Houston, TX and plays in The Suffers and Los Skarnales.

"I had been interested in Graph Tech for quite some time, before acquiring a guitar on which I was experiencing an abnormal amount of string breakage. I also couldn't seem to use the tremolo without immediately having to re-tune every single time. I discovered that my problems were due to a burr on at least a couple of the saddles, coupled with constant string binding at the nut. I decided to try a set of String Savers, along with a Graph Tech nut and string tree. Sure enough, everything worked exactly as advertised. My guitar was better able to handle extreme tremolo usage. My strings almost NEVER broke, nor did they go out of tune. The best part is that my tone did not suffer at all. Quite the opposite, actually! Graph Tech is who I turn to whenever I consider any hardware mods to any of my guitars.
