Model 5041-00 Nut Slotted L41.20mm (Select Material)

Guitar is Squier telecaster Deluxe which I decided to replace the nut with a Tusq.

I initially installed the Tusq 5000-00 , This has a Length of 42.65 mm and string spacing of 35.31 mm.

The string spacing appears to be a bit too wide Because when I hold a Barr Chord at the 1 st fret , the 1st string was cutting my Index finger middle joint , even with the action set normal at - low E 1.50 mm and heigh E 1.25 mm

A search online for a narrower string spacing led me to purchase Tusq 5040 -00 and 5041-00

It turned out that the 5040 when measured on the Nut shelf slot was a wee bit too short with

a length of 40.56 mm and string spacing also narrow at 32.54 mm ( basically the nut in the shelf was not lined up to both edges of the fretboard.

The 5041-00 however fits perfectly - length is 42.20 mm and string spacing is 34.78.

Using a piece of 120 grit laying on a flat surface, I sand the Back of the Nut as it was a bit wide until it just barely fir into the Nut Shelf slot . Next I sanded the bottom. This part of the adjustment requires a constant

Checking the fit and then sanding again to get it perfectly. In the end this nut was absolutely the right choice and guitar sound awesome with lots of chime and not muffled sound on chords.
