I failed twice to install the nut on my own, once because I could not get it sanded to the proper height, once because a deeper cut on the high E string was necessary due to the sharp angle it made with a reverse headstock.

I resorted to professional help getting the nuts installed correctly, which costs more than the nuts themselves. But, it's worth it: replacing the pickups, tuners, and nut is what it takes to get maximum performance from most off-the-shelf guitars. You can get through lots of bending and vibrato while staying in tune through the end of the set, or the end of an hours-long practice. I put Graph Tech nuts on every guitar I own (except the Floyds).

I just wish they could be cut to a variety of depths at the shop, it's that trimming that spoiled the self-installation that should have come off fine. It would be nice if the specific size needed for Ibanez guitars was standard issue. Ibanez uses plastic nuts even on fairly high-end guitars, like the top of the RG Standard line.
